Can you help us now?

Fix this mess that we have made.

And the cat said “Meow.”

There is plastic in the ocean.

There is carbon in the air.

Can you help us now?

Fires roar through forests.

Rivers rampage o’er their banks.

And the cat said “Meow.”

Thought we made the internet.

It’s really made of cats.

Can you help us now?

Inscrutable your wisdom.

Indifferent your demeanor.

And the cat said “Meow.”

For we are only human.

Sometimes blind and sometimes selfish.

Can you help us now?

And the cat said “Meow.”

I know you didn't

mean to leave me

you tried hard

to stay alive

through the pain

and the drugs

slowly swallowed

from the inside

by that sad sick sinister

soul stealer

Elusive words

play hide and seek

well hidden

perhaps disguised

in plain sight

white like paper

too bright for this poor poet

finding only dull ones

here and there
