I was born with my first and second names

and my first last name

gifted from my mother and father

my second and third last names

were borrowed from men

the third last name I kept

because it is pretty

Where did you get that name?

Did you choose it yourself?

If you don't know, Napowrimo is National Poetry Writing Month. The object is to write a poem a day for the entire month of April. I did this in 2016 and swore I would never do it again. Too hard. Too stressful. Well, guess what? I am doing it again. I have come to know that this is not about writing finished poems. It is about generating new material. Drafting possibilities. And so, here I go, off into the wild unknown. Most of what I write will likely be absolute crap. But, somewhere in that heap of crap will be the seeds of some really nice things. I will not link each new adventure to facebook or twitter, but please, drop in here to my website from time to time to see what's new. I hope some of you will join in this poetic adventure.

Peace, love, and poetry.

First, live

live live live live live

Be kind

think

do

move

Be afraid but do it anyway

learn

teach

question

make mistakes

Let your heart get broken

go balls to the wall with your hair on fire

or lay gently with the universe reclining in your hair

No matter how long or short

you occupy this Earth

Dying well

comes from living well
